Popsicle Stick Star Ornaments

January 1, 2016 By: Emily Nagelcomment

popsicle stick stars

We find time for a few crafts during the holidays and these popsicle stick star ornaments were a big hit.  I appreciated that we had all the necessary items already in the craft closet.  These would make a great classroom holiday party craft, in fact I am already making a mental note for next year.

popsicle stick star supplies

  • waxed paper sheets
  • 5 – craft popsicle sticks per star
  • craft glue
  • assortment of buttons
  • twine or ribbon for hanging
  1. Lay out a piece of wax paper on your work surface. On it, lay out the star shape using the 5 sticks.  It should look like this:IMG_2264
  2. Carefully apply glue where each stick overlaps and let dry overnight (or for at least 3 hours).  In the morning you will have a star ready to decorate!
  3. Here is where the kids can have fun.  Dot the star with glue all over. popsicle stick star glue Then place buttons and decor on each dot.popsicle stick star button
  4. Let dry completely before tying on the twine or ribbon for hanging.  My 4 year old loved decorating the stars, but older kids may easily be able to build and glue the popsicle sticks as well.
