5 Tips for Monthly Meal Planning

September 27, 2015 By: Emily Nagelcomment

Meal Planning

At a soccer game I got talking to the other moms and found out we each manage our meal planning slightly differently.  There are many useful apps out there for making grocery shopping and monthly meal planning much easier.  At a stationary store I picked up a handy dry erase calendar that is tracking tool.

My tips or meal planning are:

  1. Choose if you want to do weekly plans or monthly plans.  Weekly plans are the best for me because I like to shop sales.
  2. Make your schedule on the same day every month.  Maybe its the last Saturday of the month or Sunday night each week.
  3. Write (or type) it down in one place. One tracker means, one list.
  4. Have one or two same meals a week.  Be it “Pizza Night” or “Breakfast for Dinner”, you are allowed to have them every week.
  5. Keep your new recipes for the weekend.  One way to derail your meal planning is by under estimating how much time it takes to get a new meal on the table.  Save those for a less time sensitive day.
